  • Dr. Atanu Kr. Dutta, Dr. Nayanmoni Chetia and Dr. Arup Bhattacharjee were promoted as professor by Govt. of Assam.
  • Mr. Mrinaljyoti Adhyapok participated to the AICTE-sponsored five-day faculty development program on “Research Methodology” organized by NIT Monipur from 27th to 31st January 2021.

  • A conference paper titled “Pushover Analysis of RCC Building Including 3D Soil Structure Interaction” authored by Md. Halim Islam and Dr. Atanu Kr. Dutta was published by springer in the proceedings of the Indian Geotechnical Conference 2019. The paper was first published online on 6th May 2021.
  • A conference paper titled “Numerical Model Study of Two-Tiered Reinforced Soil Retaining Wall Subjected to Dynamic Excitation” authored by Ms. Sudipta Sikha Saikia and Dr. Arup Bhattacharjee was published by springer in the proceedings of the Indian Geotechnical Conference 2019. The paper was first published online on 6th May 2021.

Dutta and Mr. Mrinaljyoti Adhyapok attended the 7th International conference on “Recent Advances in Geotechnical Earthquake Engineering and Soil Dynamics” jointly organized by the Indian Society of Earthquake Technology, the Civil Engineering Department, IISC Bengaluru and the Department of Earthquake Engineering IIT Roorkee, Roorkee held online during 12th to 15th July, 2021.
  • Mr. Baharul Hussain participated as a faculty resource member in the Workshop for Earthquake Resistant Design Practices for UG Students of Architecture held during August 07-14, 2021 at IIT Kanpur through online mode.
  • Mr. C. Sarma, Mr. Pranjal Sarma, Mr. Nihir Boro, Mr Baharul Hussain, Ms. Prasanty Bora, Mr. Mrinal Adhyapak, Mrs. Joba Goswami and Mrs. Snigdha Kalita attended a lecture series by AICTE Chair Professor Dr. K. Raina on Bridge Engineering from 2nd September to 5th September 2011. Students from 5th and 7th semester of Civil Engineering Department also attended the series.
  • All the faculty members of Civil Engineering Department of JEC attended a webinar on “The Importance of Accreditation in Technical Education System” on 7th September 2021. The resource person was Prof. K.K. Aggrawal, Chairperson, National Board of Accreditation, India. The webinar was hosted by the JEC Diamond Jubilee Celebration Committee as a technical webinar under the series of webinar hosted as a part of diamond jubilee celebration of JEC.

  • A research proposal entitled, “Development of sustainable materials for concrete repairing and strengthening” has been accepted under “TEQIP Collaborative Research Scheme” with a total grant of Rs. 7,50,000.00. Dr. Sulaem M. Laskar is the Principal Investigator of the research project with Dr. Atanu Kr. Dutta, Mr. Baharul Hussain and Mr. Koushik Kalita acting as Co-PI for the same.

  • Sulaem Musaddiq Laskar has defended his Ph.D. thesis on “Development of Ultra-Fine Slag Based Geopolymer Mortar and Concrete for Repairing and Strengthening of Reinforced Concrete Beams” on 28th March 2019. He is a Ph.D. student at IIT Guwahati.
  • Technical paper of Dr. Atanu Kr. Dutta, ‘Soil-Structure-Interaction problem in underground pipes – a dynamic approach’; ‘Challenges of 3D modelling of the water tank using SAP2000 a case study’; ‘Response spectrum analysis including soil fluid structure interaction in concrete gravity dam’ were published in CESDOC 2018, AEC, Guwahati on 18th and 19th December, 2018.
  • Technical papers of Dr. Atanu Kr. Dutta, ‘Study on dynamic characteristics of elevated water tank’ and ‘Influence of soil structure interaction in elevated water tank’ were published NCRAST 2018, ASTU and IGC 2018 respectively.
