- Nayanmoni Chetia attended the General Committee Meeting of Sankardev Bidya Niketan on 28th January 2023. Dr. Cheita holds the position of respected member of General Committee of Sankardev Bidya Niketan, Garmur, Jorhat.
- Arup Bhattacharjee and Dr. Nayanmoni Chetia visited HRH The Prince of Wales Institute of Engineering and Technology for preparation of NBA documents in the month of January 2023.
- Nayanmoni Chetia attended the Advisory Committee Meeting of Purva Bharati Senior Secondary School, Jorhat on 6th February 2023.
- Mrinal Kr. Dutta, delivered a lecture on the “Role of Technology in Wetlands Conservation” organized by Jorhat Engineering College, Jorhat, on 2nd February 2022, on World Wetlands Day. The event aims to bring awareness among students regarding the importance of wetlands to preserve our biodiversity and available technologies to preserve them.
- Snigdha Kalita participated in the 2-days workshop on “Innovation in Institute” organized by Institute Innovation Cell, JEC in collaboration with IIC, Tezpur University, Tezpur on 3rd and 4th March 2022.
- Dr. Mrinal Kr. Dutta, delivered a lecture on “Empowering Diversity in Science” organized by Pandit Deendayal Upadhaya Adarsha Mahavidyalaya (PDUAM), Goalpara, on 16th February 2022 under IUPAC Online event on the occasion for GLOBAL WOMEN’S BREAKFAST.
- Mr. Baharul Hussain and Mr. Koushik Kalita delivered technical talks at the Training Program for Practicing Engineers of Assam Electricity Grid Corporation Limited held during 18th to 22nd February 2022. The training program was organized by Reliant Foundations Pvt. Ltd in collaboration with AEGCL. The event aims to provide a platform to discuss and communicate with the practicing engineers, their challenges and having a discussion on available design software.
- Baharul Hussain delivered a technical talk during “Training of Masons on Hazard-Resistant Construction of Shelter” on 6th March 2022 under Assam Flood Response 2021. The event was organized by North-East Affected Area Development Society (NEADS) in collaboration with Humanitarian Aid International (HAI) and HCL Foundation. The event aims to bring awareness among the mason regarding the ideal construction practice in the flood prone areas. Mason from Majuli and Jorhat were present at the event.
- Arup Bhattacharjee has been appointed as Coordinator, Dr. Nayanmoni Chetia and Dr. Achyut Das appointed as members of Principal Technical Agency (PTA), Mukhya Mantri Paki Path Asoni, Assam from 2022.
- Dr. Mrinal Kr. Dutta, delivered a talk during NDLI awareness Programme on National Digital Library of India and NDLI Club, organized by Jorhat Engineering College, Jorhat, on 20th May 2022.
- N.M. Chetia has participated in three one-week long workshop on “Trilingual glossary of Engineering in Assamese to fulfil the objectives of NEP2020” organized by the Commission for Scientific and Technical Terminology, in April, June and July 2022.
- N.M. Chetia and Mr. Baharul Hussain acted as a Faculty Resource member in the Workshop on Earthquake Resistant Design Practice for UG Students of Architecture, organized by National Information Centre of Earthquake Engineering (NICEE) and IIT Kanpur, held from 18th to 25th June 2022.
- P.K. Khaund has attended AICTE organised Orientation Program on Technical Book Translators (Assamese Language) on 20th May at Assam Science and Technology University, Guwahati.
- P. K. Khaund was invited as a chief guest to the second regional conclave of student’s chapter organized by The Institute of Engineers (India) in association with Kaziranga University in collaboration with Assam State Centre, IEI & Upper Assam Local Centre, IEI. The conclave was organized on 29th and 30th November 2022 with theme “Modern Construction Technologies in India”.
- P. K. Khaund visited Assam Engineering College for selection of upgradation in the post of Assistant Professor Category-2 of Bineswar Brahma Engineering College.
- Nayanmoni Chetia, Professor, CED presented a paper on sustainable construction technologies as a resource person in the second regional conclave of student’s chapter organized by The Institute of Engineers (India) in association with Kaziranga University in collaboration with Assam State Centre, IEI & Upper Assam Local Centre, IEI. The conclave was organized on 29th and 30th November 2022 with theme “Modern Construction Technologies in India”.
- Nayanmoni Chetia, Professor, CED was invited and acted as an External Expert of Selection Committee for the recruitment for the post of Project Associate-I at CSIR Northeast Institute of Science & Technology on 21st December 2022.
- Jorat Engineering College was established on 10th October 1960 and have completed 60 glorious years in the year 2020. Due to COVID situation the Diamond Jubilee Celebration got delayed for one year but finally it was celebrated on 26th and 27th December, 2021.
- P. K. Khaund, HoD, CED acted as one of the Vice President of the central committee for diamond jubilee celebration. Dr. Arup Bhattacharjee and Dr. Nayanmoni Chetia acted as Joint Secretary from CED.
- Executive members from CED were Dr. Atanu Kr. Dutta, Dr. Mrinal Kr. Dutta, Mr. Rituparna Goswami, Mr. Arup Deka and Mr. Abhijit Hazarika.
- As a part of diamond jubilee celebration 10 online webinar and 1 panel discussion was conducted. The topics for webinar were chosen such that it can touch the fields of career, technology, education etc. The panel discussion was on the topic “Industry-Institute Interaction to Develop Industry-Fit Engineers”. Dr. Mrinal Kr. Dutta acted as Joint Convenor of the Seminar Sub Committee. Dr. Atanu Kr. Dutta and Dr. Achyut Das were members for the same.
- Atanu Kr. Dutta acted as Joint Convenor for the Souvenir Sub Committee. The souvenir prepared by this committee was appreciated by all for its ability summarise the 60 glorious years of JEC into one book.
- P.K. Khaund acted as Joint Convenor for the Cultural Sub Committee. Dr. Nayanmoni Chetiya and Mrs. Joba Goswami were the members for the same. The smooth conduction of all the cultural events were the responsibility of the committee.
- Arup Deka was the Joint Convenor of the Transportation/ Accommodation Sub Committee, Mr. Rituparna Goswami was the Joint Convenor of the Food Sub Committee. Dr.Arup Bhattacharjee was the Joint Convenor of the Budget/Fund Sub Committee. Dr. Nayanmoni Chetia was the Joint Convenor of the Felicitation of Retired Faculties & Staff Sub-Committee and Singing Competition. Dr. P.K. Khaund was the convenor of the Debating/ Elocution Sub-Committee.
- On 30th November 2021, Dr. P. K. Khaund, NRRDA Director and a team of experts visited Wokha-Merapani Road to inspect and evaluate its existing condition.
- As part of diamond jubilee celebration of Jorhat Engineering College, an Intra College Debate Competition was conducted on 14th August 2021. The motion of the competition was “Advancement in Artificial Intelligence is a Threat to Humanity”. The speaker for the event was Prof. Arup Kumar Sarma, IIT Guwahati. The event was judged by Dr. Aditi Bezbaruah, Retired Faculty JEC, and Dr. Surojit Sarma, Associate Professor, J.B. College. Dr. Prasanna Kr. Khaund, HoD, Civil Engineering Department was the convenor for the event.
- All Assam Inter Engineering College Debate Competition was held on 4th September 2021 as a part of the diamond jubilee celebration of JEC. The motion of the competition was “e-Learning: A Challenge to Technical Education”. Dr. Aditi Bezbaruah, retired faculty JEC was the speaker for the event. The jury members were Dr. Surojit Sarma, Associate Professor, J.B. College, and Mr. Rintu Goswami, Senior Govt. Advocate, Jorhat BAR. Dr. Prasanna Kr. Khaund, HoD, Civil Engineering Department was the convenor for the event.
- As part of the Dimond Jubilee celebration “Intra Joencovites Self-Composed Poem Recitation Competition” was held on 21st August 2021. The event was judged by Dr. Plabon Kakoti, Professor, Assam Engineering College, and Dr. Satyajit Bhuyan, Professor, Assam Engineering College. The convenors for the program were Dr. P.K. Khaund and Dr. Nayanmoni Chetia.
- All Assam INTER Engineering College Technical Article Writing Competition was also conducted as a part of the Diamond Jubilee celebration of JEC. The event convenor was Dr. Mrinal Kr. Dutta.
- GITEEMALIKA an intra-college online competition was also held as a part of the Diamond Jubilee celebration of JEC. The event convenor was Dr. Nayanmoni Chetia.
- IIP Cell of JEC has organized one online technical talk on ground improvement techniques on 10th July through online mode. Mr. Pradeepta Das delivered the lecture on the same. Dr. Atanu Kr. Dutta and Mr. Rituparna Goswami coordinated the event.
- An article লক্ষ্মীনন্দনবৰাৰ‘গুৰুপৰ্ব্ব’ written by Dr. Atanu Kr. Dutta was published by the July issue of Assamese monthly magazine “প্রকাশ”

- Nayanmoni Chetia Was a Resource Person in a seminar on “Bio-Composite Materials” Organized by Jorhat Engineering College, ASTU in association with Kaziranga University School of Engineering and Technology in 29th June 2020.
- Dr. Prasanna Khaund has been nominated as a member of the academic council of ASTU by V.C. from 3rd November 2020 for five years.
- Dr Nayanmoni Chetia was one of the resource persons for the FDP on “Entrepreneurship and Housing Sector” held from 27th October to 9th November 2020.
- Dr Nayanmoni Chetia acted as one of the guest speakers at the “Online Interactive Session for Bamboo Practitioners” organized by Sarv Kalyan Vikas Samiti on 4th December 2020.
- Dr Atanu Kr Dutta reviewed the book “Bad Science” by Ben Goldacre and wrote an article titled “কু-বিজ্ঞান”, published on “প্রকাশ” in December 2020. The article was about how people misguide others using a wrong interpretation of scientific facts for their benefit.
- Atanu Kumar Dutta published a review on the book “Once upon a life- A memoir” by Temsula Ao in the 91st edition of PRAKASH magazine. pulvinar dapibus leo.
- Atanu Kr. Dutta has been invited to conduct a training on “Disaster Management” for AEGCL’s employees on 23rd and 24th October 2019 at Hotel Heritage, Jorhat, Assam.
- Atanu Kr. Dutta was invited as a resource person in workshop for Earthquake Resistant Design Practices for UG students of Architectures from 1st to 7th July 2019 at IIT Kanpur.
- Prasanna Kr. Khaund delivered a technical talk on “Erosion & Its Control in River Brahmaputra” at Malnad College of Engineering, Hasan Karnataka on 5th July 2019.
- Prasanna Kr. Khaund attended a BOS, Civil Engineering meeting at Malnad College of Engineering, Hasan Karnataka as one of the expert member for review of their new Civil Engineering syllabus on 5th July 2019.
- Atanu Kr. Dutta was engaged as an evaluator of AICTE Scheme.
- Arup Bhattacharjee has reviewed a research article entitled “Seismic Evaluation of Geosynthetic-Reinforced Retaining Walls Under Near and Far” for the journal of Earthquake Engineering and Engineering Vibration.
- Mrinal Kr. Dutta and Mr. Koushik Kalita attended the sixth annual event of Dr. Kamal Chandra Borthakur Memorial Educational Trust organized by Assam Academic Center on 15th September 2019. During the event Dr. Dutta delivered a talk on “Drainage Network of Jorhat City” and Mr. Kalita delivered a talk on “Solid Waste management in Jorhat” which were highly appreciated by the delegates and the audience present in the event.
- Nayanmoni Chetia was invited as a resource person for the workshop on “Weather forecasting, crop planning and making housing cost effective and resilient in flood effected areas of Golaghat District” organized by Kaziranga University and HAI on 26th September 2019.
- A.K. Dutta, associate professor, JEC acted as a reviewer for SN Applied Science which is a multi-disciplinary, peer-reviewed journal published by Springer Nature.
- S.M. Laskar, assistant professor, JEC along with Prof. Sudip Talukdar, IITG contributed towards development of the online Buying Guides and Material Calculator for the online construction material buying site ‘www.brick2wall.com’.
- P.K. Khaund attended a dissemination workshop entitled “Morphological Studies of River Brahmaputra, Subansiri and Pagladiya using Remote Sensing Technique” organized by department of Civil Engineering, IIT Guwahati at IIT Guwahati on 3rd May 2019.
- K. Kalita, Mr. B. Hussain, Dr. S.M. Laskar, Mr. N. Boro, Mr. U. Ray, Mrs. A. Bhatt and Ms. M. Gowalla attended a one day workshop on writing research proposal under TEQIP III organized on 7th May 2019 at Jorhat Engineering College.
