An Equal Opportunity Cell (EOC) in educational institutions ensures fair treatment, access, and support for all students and staff, especially from marginalized groups (SC/ST/OBC, minorities, PwD) by tackling discrimination, promoting inclusivity, providing resources like scholarships/remedial coaching, and acting as a grievance redressal body, fostering a barrier-free, diverse, and equitable campus environment.  

Functions of the Equal Opportunity Cell of Jorhat Engineering College:

  1. To ensure non-discrimination and promote an inclusive environment.
  2. To support the social and academic development of disadvantaged groups (SC/ST/OBC/Minorities/PwD).
  3. To assist students in accessing government schemes, scholarships, and remedial coaching.
  4. To sensitize the institutional community on issues of equity, diversity, and inclusion.
  5. To collect and analyze data on the diversity profile of students and staff for better policy implementation.

Measures for the promotion of equity:

  1. The Equal Opportunity Cell of Jorhat Engineering College encourages any student, faculty member, or staff, whether victims or witnesses to any incident of discrimination, to report such occurrences; the identity of the informant shall be protected upon request.
