Rishikesh Borpuzari Ideathon competition 2023

The Rishikesh Borpuzari Ideathon Competition 2023 was held to motivate students of Jorhat Engineering College for entrepreneurship and start-up. The competition was conducted by Entrepreneurship Cell, JEC in association with Rishikesh Borpuzari Memorial Trust and JEC Alumni Association. This year’s competition covers the following areas:

1. Climate Change Issues    2. Renewable Energy   3. Green Hydrogen Economy    4. Tea garden    5. Bamboo-based products      6. Precast technologies 

7.  Edutech                8.  Agriculture          9.   Future Technologies        10. Cyber security

The total prize money for this competition is 1 lakh out of which JEC Alumni Association contribution is  Rs. 85 thousand. The selected groups will be groomed and mentored by experts/entrepreneurs from the JEC Alumni Association.

The first round was a paper presentation round in which 20 groups participated. In the first round, 13 groups were selected for the final round.

The ideation competition was judged by our distinguished JEC Alumni who were also reputed entrepreneurs or persons involved in entrepreneurship activity.

On 30th September 2023 final round was held at Jorhat Engineering College, where five groups were selected as Winners of the Rishikesh Borpuzari Ideathon Competition 2023.

31-03-2023 : Entrepreneurship Cell of Jorhat Engineering College successfully organised the second edition of the B Plan Pitching Competition, Plandeavour 2.0 under Adamya Project. The event saw the participation of teams coming from various educational Institutions all over Assam.

The event was judged by Mr. Pankaj Baruah, Mentor in residence, Assam Startup and Mr. Dhanjit Das, Senior Scientist, CSIR – NEIST, Jorhat. The competition was followed by a presentation by Mr. Dhanjit Das and a knowledge session by Mr. Pankaj Baruah.

The Winner of Plandeavour 2.0 was WalkTopia, a team from Tezpur University and Runner Up was MakeAMe from Assam Engineering College. The prize pool was worth 50,000 rupees.

The event was powered by Oil India Limited and was held in collaboration with Assam Startup – the Nest with IIM Calcutta Innovation Park as the knowledge partner and in association with G Plus. Automovill were the Event Partners. E Cell, JEC is really grateful to their event partners, without whom the event would not have been a success.

01-04-2023 : Google Developer Student Clubs – Jorhat Engineering College would proudly like to announce the successful commencement of “HackVita 2023”, organised in collaboration with E-Cell, Jorhat Engineering College during the annual techno-cultural event of the college. The hackathon amassed young tinkering minds and their spree of thoughts and these ideas were allowed to flow into innovation within the 12 hours of ceaseless coding and debugging. The 40+ participants who were present in-person were provided with their own workspace and other necessary amenities. The organizing committee made sure that the entire process was efficient and smooth even when the Gods were pouring on them.
It was an honour for the organizers as well as participants to have had Ms. Monita Wahengbam, Scientist-D & Centre In-charge, NIELIT Jorhat and Mr. Neelam Das, Programming Analyst at TechVariable, as judges for the competition. The trophies were bagged by 1st – Alphabets (Jorhat Engineering College) and 2nd – Data Crew (Assam Engineering College). Both the teams were awarded with goodies and prize money of Rs. 20,000 and Rs. 10,000 respectively.

NORTHEAST ENTREPRENEURSHIP DRIVE( NEED) COHORT

The E-Cell of Jorhat Engineering College took part in the three-week cohort of the North-East Entrepreneurship Drive (NEED) organized in the month of December.

Workshop on Innovative Ecosystem in Academic Institutions

A workshop cum competition of innovative idea presentation and demonstration related to rural economy in the Northeast, was held on 3rd and 4th JUNE 2022, at Jorhat Engineering College, Jorhat-785007. This was jointly organised by TECHNOLOGY ENABLING CENTRE, TEZPUR UNIVERSITY (TEC-TU) & ISTITUTE INNOVATIVE CELL, JORHAT ENGINEERING COLLEGE (JEC), JORHAT.
The workshop was held on 3rd June, 2022 on the topic: “Innovative Ecosystem in Academic Institutions”. It included talks on: “Technology Enabling Centre: Innovation ambience in academic institutions”,“Facilities idea validation, Pre-incubation and Start-up development” and“Technology Commercialization in Present Context / IP right and Technology transfers.
